Breaking, Schooling and Competition Training

Schooling and Competition Training

£130 per week

Whatever your aims for your horse or pony and whatever level you wish to reach, whether it be pleasure riding or high level competition riding then we can help.

Schooling livery and competition training are offered to any standard and type oh horse and we consider how all aspects of your horse’s life, such as diet, fitness and past experiences effect training and performance.

Even if you simply want your horse for hacking it is still essential for safety reasons that he/she is well trained, obedient and responsive. We appreciate that a large amount of horse owners do not have the time, experience and/or facilities to achieve this. This is where we can help.

Re schooling and retraining of horses who have behavioural issues or who have been incorrectly schooled in the past is also offered. We have huge amounts of experience and success in this field. Whatever problem you are having with your horse/pony then you can be confident that we will be able to improve this for you. Many people are often pushed to consider selling their horse/pony because of behavioural problems but please contact us before resorting to this as we have helped many of our clients who were once in this position.

Testimonials
Annalie Bell began to have a number of schooling issues with her 5 year old horse, Isla. Annalie comments “ After Isla had been with Charlotte at Rockwood Equestrian Centre for just 1 week training I paid a visit to see her progress for myself. She is not an easy horse to ride and is usually very tense, but she was loose, relaxed and able to show off her fantastic paces. She felt like a different horse and is now a pleasure to ride. She is so settled at Rockwood Equestrian Centre that I have decided to extend her initial 2 week stay to a permanent arrangement, so I can carry on the good work using the excellent facilities”

Testimonials
“I bought Sam when he was five. As I'm very much a leisure rider and he was 17hh, nervous and not backed it wasn't an obvious match. However, I'd seen several horses backed and schooled at the yard, and I was confident that Charlotte and the team at Rockwood would be able to get Sam (and me) to the place where I wanted us to be - a happy and confident horse that was a pleasure to ride and handle.

On-going schooling and lessons for both of us have ensured Sam and I have continued to progress and are able to set new targets. Having the backup to address issues as they arise has been invaluable in ensuring we stayed on track to achieve these.

It's been a great journey with Sam, I’m so pleased with how he has worked out so far and grateful to Charlotte and her team for all their work with us.” Karen Hawher

“I bought my Welsh Cob as a three year old. Charlotte and her team at Rockwood Equestrian Centre took him through all the stages of being backed, ridden and taken out on the roads. Charlotte schooled him and offered me all the help and support I needed to go on and compete with confidence. What I particularly liked was the fact that Charlotte not only schooled and brought him on for me to a high level, but always took into consideration his temperment and age. She never bullied him into anything, but took her time teaching him and always rode him quietly but with confidence. Charlotte always kept me informed of how he was doing and then supported me in my lessons to gain confidence and develop my riding further. I sent him to Charlottes for schooling and we stayed for 2 1/2 years, only moving as I moved to North Yorkshire. I loved the yard and found the facilities (indoor and outdoor arena) fantastic, giving me the ability to ride in or out dependent on the weather and time of the day. Other horse owners on the yard were friendly and non judgemental.....finding a yard where everybody gets along meant a lot to me. The staff were also fantastic, friendly, approachable and supportive. My confidence has grown and my horse is well schooled and this would not have been possible without the support & guidance of the Charlotte and all the staff at Rockwood….. I will always be grateful to them.” Katie Atkinson
